Who We Are

Food Justice

Commodity Supplemental Food Program

In partnership with federal and state agencies, we provide 41,000 low income seniors with monthly food packages to

help them meet basic needs. We also provide opportunities to obtain health screenings, income support, tax preparation

and utility assistance.

What We Do

Our programs support our mission by providing basic needs to low income senior citizens. The volunteer program is essential to supporting our seniors through the following opportunities:

1. Preparing and packing Food Boxes

Central Warehouse can accommodate 10-30 people. The hours are Monday-Thursday 9am 3:30pm, Friday and *Select Saturday’s 9am-12pm, closed the first Friday of every month and Sundays.

Volunteers that participate will be “cutting stock”, that is Focus: Hope lingo for opening boxes and putting food on pallets for “pre-packing” (boxing up food items to prepare for delivery).

2. Assisting Seniors with shopping

Westside Food Center can accommodate 1-10 people. The hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-12pm, closed Saturday and Sundays.

Volunteers that participate will have the opportunity to mingle with some of our seniors who pick up their boxes, or help replenish the floor by “cutting the stock” in the small replenishment warehouse.

 3. Deliver Food Boxes

Homebound Food Delivery program is great for individuals and groups. Deliveries can be made Monday-Friday and the Second and Third Saturday of the month.

Volunteers deliver food boxes to our homebound seniors living in the metro-Detroit area. Volunteers must have their own transportation.
