Focus: On Detroit photography festival celebrates the people and places of the great city of Detroit! Exhibitions include high-quality photographic works by a range of established and emerging photographers, including youth. The highlight of the festival features large-scale nighttime projections of photographs, videos, and light sculptures on the historic Bell Building curated to riveting music.  Additional festival elements include photo-related workshops and artist talks, hands-on activities for all ages, music, food trucks and a beer garden. 

The event includes; walking tours, workshops, exhibits, hand-on activities for all ages!  

Event runs from 2:00pm-11:00pm

Thank you for volunteering for Focus: On Detroit!!!   Volunteers are one of the most important keys to delivering a fun and welcoming event.   We are so glad that you have agreed to be an ambassador for Focus: HOPE!!!     Below please find all of the information that you will need to make this a successful volunteer experience!

  

What to wear:   wear comfortable walking shoes, clothing of your choice that reflects Focus: HOPE’s mission of treating everyone with dignity and respect, and if sun is a concern, a hat and sunscreen! Suggested colors are black, white, and/or aqua.

 

Parking:   Parking is available in fenced lots for Volunteers in the Focus: HOPE lots located at 1200 Oakman Blvd. A shuttle will be available from this location starting at around 9 a.m. Volunteers can also park at their own risk on the unfenced grassy vacant lots on the south side of Kendall near Woodrow Wilson.

 

Where to go when you arrive:

 

  • Please check in at the volunteer tent to receive your special Focus: On Detroit pin and volunteer ribbon, some bottled water, and to receive your assignment
  • Connect with your Area Team Lead
  • Go to your designated starting point

Contact List:  A contact list is attached.   If you need help with your designated area, connect with your team lead first, then try your walkie talkie or the command center.

  • Parking:   Parking is available in fenced lots for Volunteers in the Focus: HOPE lots located 1200 Oakman Blvd. Volunteers can also park at their own risk on the unfenced grassy vacant lots on the south side of Kendall near Woodrow Wilson. Shuttles will be circulating for pick-up and drop off at the various parking lots and to the festival. 
  • Things to bring:

    In addition to wound care equipment (there will be on-site first aid kits)

    • Water Bottles
    • Bug Spray/repellent
    • Light snack(s)

    Check-in: Stop at the Volunteer and Information Booth to check in and receive additional information.
